Man Sought in Connection with Double Homicide Incidents

Local authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted for a double murder case. The individual in question is Hector Matute, also known as Hector Paguada, aged 33. The victims of the fatal shooting incident were 55-year-old Juana Medina Rodriguez and 23-year-old Nayeli Bolaños Medina, both hailing from El Salvador. The motive behind the attack remains undisclosed, but investigators suspect that Matute had prior acquaintance with the victims.

The shooting occurred at an apartment on January 19 at West Irving Boulevard, resulting in the death of Rodriguez and critical injuries to Medina. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the suspected perpetrator managed to flee the scene. Rodriguez was Medina’s mother and grandmother to her 5-year-old son, who was present during the incident. An arrest warrant for capital murder has been issued for Matute.

Dallas has already witnessed a grim start to the year in terms of crime, with 11 homicides reported. Last year, the city experienced a 15% increase in murders, predominantly affecting the black and Hispanic communities. The Dallas Police Department faces challenges due to a staffing shortage, operating with fewer officers than recommended for ensuring public safety.

Efforts to address crime in the city are ongoing, with notable disparities in crime rates between Downtown Dallas and the city center of Fort Worth. Downtown Dallas reports substantially higher incidents, while Fort Worth benefits from joint patrols by a specialized police unit and private security.
